Why We Need to Put God Back in the Equation

His ways are not our ways.

The year 2024 has been a monumental year for humanity. In the last few months, the news cycle has been filled with breakthroughs in AI. OpenAI announced its GPT-4o, Google unveiled Gemini, Project Astra made headlines, and even Scarlett Johanssen’s voice likeness was used by Chat GPT for their audio version. There has been no shortage of groundbreaking firsts in the world of tech, which are going down in history.

In parallel to that, we also have two regional wars, one in Europe and one in West Asia. The year 2024 is starting to become the year of revelation in nearly all aspects.

Even long-standing trends such as high-end fashion have taken a backseat to new trends on the rise such as Old Money vibes and Quiet Luxury. In this new landscape, knowledge is the new currency. Content creators are making a bank by sharing their expertise. For instance, content creators like Tanner Leatherstein are gaining popularity by offering valuable insights and educating their audience on the real value of luxury brand leather goods. Additionally, content focusing on travel and food, which emphasizes experiences over purchasing luxury items, is also on the rise.

With so many things going on in the world today, life is more challenging than ever. Anyone saying otherwise is either extremely privileged, living in a bubble, or simply not conveying the truth.

As humans, we tend to want to have everything under our control. We want the right job, the well-deserved promotion and that million-dollar cheque to happen the way we want them to. Without any regard for what our path in life is supposed to be like.

In April 2024, Zoraya ter Beek, a 28-year-old woman in the Netherlands decided to seek professional help to have herself euthanized. She pleaded that euthanasia was necessary due to her debilitating mental health issue. She lives with two cats and has a boyfriend whom she loves.

There is no shortage of examples of how humans like to take matters into their own hands, disregarding faith, fate, destiny, or divine intervention.

For many, God may be an archaic belief that has no place in the modern world. However, when we’ve lived long enough on planet Earth, we begin to see patterns emerging around us and the hand of God or destiny at play.

We see events that are inexplicable to man and yet unsurprising to the powers that be.

Take, for example, Alexander Hamilton, the founding father of the United States of America. He was born out of wedlock and was abandoned by his father when he was an infant. Raised by a single mother, their lives were filled with struggle. At age 13, Hamilton’s mother died, leaving him orphaned. With nothing and no one to help him, he worked as a clerk at an import-export firm. By age 15, his bosses were so impressed with him that they sent him to America to further his studies.

Looking at Hamilton’s life up until he arrived in America, it may seem like a never-ending tragedy. Had he chosen that point of his life to be his final chapter, he would have never had the opportunity to be a founding father of one of the most powerful countries in history.

Hamilton embraced all the bitterness, hardship, and unsurmountable challenges during his childhood. He kept going and kept moving forward to a better tomorrow.

Today, everyone wants to “make it” before they reach the age of 30. Everyone is vying to be on the Forbes 30 under 30 list.

However, as the saying goes “Good things take time”. Have you ever tried making a pot roast in the microwave? The same goes for success. True success doesn’t happen overnight.

The most famous belated success story of all time is of Harland Sanders (a.k.a Colonel Sanders), the man who founded Kentucky Fried Chicken. Sanders had humble beginnings and worked in different fields such as streetcar conductor, farmer, railroad fireman, and insurance salesman. At the age of 40, he was managing a service station and started cooking fried chicken for hungry travelers. By 1964, Sanders had more than 600 franchised outlets. He then sold his company for 2 Million Dollars.

Looking at Sanders’s career trajectory, nobody would have ever thought he would become the founding father of the most successful fried chicken restaurant in the world. Despite all odds, that is exactly what he became. He had no family name, no trust fund, no Ivy League education — nothing. He moved from one job to another and eventually started cooking chicken. He wasn’t even considered a company man. Yet, despite all of that, in 2024, his recipe endures, and people are still enjoying his fried chicken.

Life can appear uneventful and sometimes hopeless when seen from a human perspective. However, when viewed through the lens of Divinity and higher power, it instantly becomes magical.

What are the odds of an orphaned child, born out of wedlock in the Caribbean, becoming one of the founding fathers of the greatest country on earth? Who would have thought that a man working odd jobs would be the founder of one of the greatest fast-food chains in the world? According to human calculations, these things are impossible. But with God, everything is possible.

Miracles happen every day, destinies still exist. With so many challenges facing our world today, don’t you think it’s time we all put God back into the equation?
